Workshop: How to Implement the Balanced Scorecard (BSC)

Presented by: Joni Holeman, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP

Date: Thursday, April 16, 2009

Time: 1:45 PM - 3:30 PM

Over 700,000 people have lost their jobs in this down economy. If you’re a layoff survivor, did your organization also reduce the amount of work left to do? Typically the crew left behind is expected to ”take up the slack,” “hunker down” or ”be grateful you’ve still got a paycheck!” Employers with this mindset seek ( but won’t receive) needed work behaviors to move out of this crisis. Want to deploy a proven metrics system that can prevent short-sighted financial compulsions from repeating past mistakes? Now’s the time to implement Balanced Scorecard. This 2.75 hour mini-workshop will show you how.

Robert Kaplan and David Norton introduced BSC to the world in 1996. Their principles for leveling short-term financial results with long-term value creation are piercingly relevant today. Join us Thursday at 1:45 PM to interactively explore why BSC’s methodology is superior for achieving strategic outcomes within a business unit. Participants will practice hands-on activities, bringing home the abilities to:

  • Build a 10-step BSC implementation plan
  • Map BSC to annual strategy and budgeting functions
  • Hold gains by creating sustaining communications tools
