Transportation Management has become the next
stage of continuous improvement beyond Distribution Resource Planning (DRP).
Today the escalating energy expenses are resulting in more rigorous
situation modeling as companies look for ways to bring efficiencies to the
transportation effort and renew the goals and expectations of logistics and
distribution. By linking the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems with
distribution/logistics, new value opportunities are being found to result in
more competitive advantages. Volume and location of inventory and spare
parts will provide more rapid delivery for those few special materials that
will impact the customer uptime and provide you the supplier with more value
added benefits. New models for inventory management incorporates all modes
of transportation, outsourcing and effective selection of third party
logistics (3PL) and inventory placement supported on a new awareness of
information.
After this clinic you will be able to:
- Understand how to manage and analyze: cargo space, modes of
transportation, destination storage and consumption requirements.
- Understand the importance of real time multi-lingual
transportation and logistics communications in today's ever
challenging global marketplace.
- Manage an extended/subcontracted transportation network.
- Understand the direction of emerging technologies in the "Supply
Chain of the Future".
