With the advent of Globalization and Thomas
Friedman’s recent book, “The World is Flat”, join us in our discussion about
this ever-changing, very large and critical element of supply chain
management. To frame this discussion about this ever-changing, growing and
global environment, we will utilize Aberdeen’s Operational Supplier
Management Framework, “Connect—Coordinate—Monitor—Control & Improve.”
The discussion will begin with definitions, ongoing issues, pain and basic
strategies. We’ll go through the Framework and talk about major elements of
global sourcing such as costs, risk, sustainability, outsourcing,
orchestration, event-management, dashboards, spend management and
technology. We’ll also introduce something called—“SRM”, Supplier
Relationship Management, discuss the basics, what sourcing issues it
addresses and how it solves those issues. We’ll finish this segment with
recent “Best-in-Class” global sourcing practices and metrics, under the term
SCF, Supply Chain Finance, such as e-payables, DPO, Days Payables
Outstanding, DSO, Days Sales Outstanding, Cash-to-Cash Cycle Times, Terms,
LCCS, Lowest Cost Country Sourcing and more.
In our final segment, we’ll attempt to “Tie-these-concepts-together” by
discussing IBM’s very successful global sourcing approach and benefits
derived and finish up with a Roadmap of “Best Practices” to ensure Global
Sourcing/SRM excellence.
After this presentation you will be able to:
- Get grounded on the basics of Global Sourcing & SRM
- Get a glimpse of the latest “Best-in-Class” Global Sourcing/SRM
metrics of success
- Acquire an understanding of the key Global Sourcing/SRM
processes and how they drive supply chain excellence
- Take home a Go-forward Roadmap for Global Sourcing/SRM
excellence
